Our Story

On September 20, 2019, Captain Vincent Liberto Jr. tragically lost his life while dedicated to his passion for serving and protecting his community and family.

A devoted U.S. Marine, and police officer, Captain Liberto was also a loving husband, father, and proud papa. His vibrant personality lit up every room, and he had a unique ability to connect with people, never meeting a stranger. He believed in the potential of others and was always ready to lend a listening ear or offer heartfelt advice. Many community members shared how he had given them a second chance at life, recounting moments when he took the time to truly listen and support them. These stories affirm the profound impact he made during his time on duty, reminding us that he was not just a figure of authority, but a genuine force for good in the lives of many. Captain Liberto cherished bringing family together, creating joyful moments and lasting memories through shared laughter and love.

In his memory, his wife Tracey and eldest daughter Bailee established The Captain Vincent N. Liberto Jr. Memorial Fund. Their mission is to support First Responders and their families, local nonprofits, while fostering community unity.

Throughout the year, the memorial fund host several events, including The Vinnie Pays it Forward Gala, Cook'n with the Blue, and Family Dine Out Events.

The Vinnie Pays it Forward Gala is an annual fundraiser benefiting Tunnel to Towers. Since Captain Liberto's passing The captain Vincent Liberto Memorial Fund, along with the community, has raised over $125,000 in Captain Liberto name. This has been done primarily through our live and silent auction at the gala.

Cook'n with the Blue - Jambalaya Cook Off is a delightful family event designed to unite the community while generating funds for local nonprofits and first responders. Numerous cooking teams compete for the coveted first place jambalaya paddle, creating a festive atmosphere. So bring the family out for a good time.

Our Dine Out Events encourage families to take a break and enjoy a meal together, all while supporting First Responders. Captain Liberto cherished Sundays when his wife would prepare a hearty dinner for their family, which included the children, their spouses and their grandchildren. Our Dine Out events aim to replicate that cherished tradition, bringing families together over a shared meal.
